Fox C-6 School District Receives New School Safety Grant
This week, Fox C-6 School District was awarded a New School Safety Grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Fox C-6 is one of 566 school districts, charter schools, and nonpublic schools in Missouri to receive the funds.
“We are beyond elated that Fox C-6 was included in the second round of funding for the New School Safety Grant,” explains Dr. Paul Fregeau, Superintendent of the Fox C-6 School District. “This was a competitive grant application process, so it is great to see that our district stood out and was recognized as a recipient.”
The max amount awarded to any school or district was $300,000 - which is what Fox C-6 will receive. Dr. Fregeau says that the funding will go towards ballistic window film for several buildings throughout the district.
“The safety of our entire Fox C-6 family is without a doubt one of the top priorities for our district,” Dr. Fregeau adds. “We want to thank legislators and Governor Mike Parson for expanding the School Safety Reimbursement in their Fiscal Year 2024 budget. It makes a big difference not only for our district, but for everyone involved in education.”
“Improving the safety and security of our schools is an issue we can all support, and these grants help ensure our schools remain safe environments for Missouri children to learn,” Governor Parson said. “While threats of violence are something we never want to see in our classrooms, we must be prepared and have proper resources and response plans in place. This second round of school safety grants continues our commitment to doing just that and helping keep kids safe.”
