Fox C6 School District participates in Federal and State grant programs and applies for these supplemental funds through the Consolidated Application process with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Grant Awards includes: Title I Part A, Basic Grant (Low Income/low achieving students); Title II, Part A (Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting); Title III-EL English Language Learners and Title IV (well-rounded/Healthy students/Tech). Federal guidelines allow local non-profit private schools to participate with the public school district in federal programs. Those participating private schools are identified in Part I of the application and listed as our non-public Affiliate Schools.
Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015 to replace the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2002. This bipartisan measure reauthorizes the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the nation’s national education law and longstanding commitment to equal opportunity for all students. In 2012, the Obama administration began granting flexibility to states regarding specific requirements of NCLB in exchange for rigorous and comprehensive state-developed plans designed to close achievement gaps, increase equity, improve the quality of instruction, and increase outcomes for all students.

Title I Part A: Helping Disadvantaged Children

Title II Part A: Teacher Quality
A federal program that increases student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools.

Title III: ELL
Title III, Part A, is officially known as the Language Instruction for English Learner (EL) and Immigrant Students Act (Section 3102 lists the purpose of the law). The overarching purpose is to ensure that EL students, including immigrant children and youth, attain English language proficiency and meet the same challenging state academic standards that other students are expected to meet. The Local Education Agency (LEA) must use Title III funds to supplement state language instruction educational programs, designed to assist EL students’ achievement goals. Title IV
Title IV provides funding for the following purposes:
- Providing students with a well-rounded education (e.g., college and career counseling, STEM, music and arts, civics, IB/AP, computer science)
- Supporting safe and healthy students (e.g., comprehensive school mental health, drug, and violence prevention, training on trauma-informed practices, health and physical education) and
- Supporting the effective use of technology (e.g., professional development, blended and personalized learning, and devices).
