Tracy LaRose Attends Project Ocean

{August 15, 2022} Arnold, MO - This summer Tracy LaRose, a science teacher and Dean of Students at Seckman Middle School, had a once-in-a-lifetime professional development opportunity as she attended Project Ocean, a month-long program to study Oceanography and STEM. Tracy was selected as one of only 22 science educators from across North America to participate in this program.

Project Ocean culminated with a week-long in-person workshop at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, where participants had the opportunity to have hands-on learning experiences and collaborate in preparing for the upcoming school year. This experience was sponsored by the American Meteorological Society and the Office of Naval Research.

“The experiments and projects completed at Project Ocean will help my students not only understand Oceanography but will get students excited about STEM careers in the future.” Tracy LaRose said of the experience. “The new and ever-changing technology that is being produced to monitor the oceans is amazing and my students are going to be the ones designing that future technology.”
