Title I

The Title I program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom when needed. Title I schools will identify the students at their school who need the most educational assistance based on the criteria that the school has chosen. Students do NOT have to be from low-income families to receive Title I services.

Fox Elementary, Guffey Elementary, Hamrick Elementary, Meramec Heights Elementary, and Sherwood Elementary Schools operate as Title I schools. All these schools receive grant money through the federal government to serve students at risk of not meeting the standards for their particular grade level. The Fox C6 School District uses multiple sources of data to identify the students that are at risk. The sources include standardized test scores, educational progress monitoring tools, teacher recommendations, etc.

What are the goals of the Schoolwide Programs?

•    Improve Teaching and Learning
•    Enable participating students to meet the Missouri State Learning Standards.

Funding received through Title I coordinates with and supplements the regular education program. Title I funding must also be used to improve parent involvement at schoolwide schools.
 

You can influence the success of your child in school more than any teacher or federal program. By becoming an active participant in the Title I parent involvement plan at your school, you will:

• Serve as a role model, showing your child that you support his/her education
• Assure that you are aware of your child’s educational progress, thereby demonstrating how important that progress is to you.
• Teach your student that your input at the school is appreciated and that you support its efforts
• Attend parent nights that emphasize instruction, curriculum, student progress, etc.
   

Research shows that well a child does in school depends a great deal upon how much their parents get involved in their education. You can become more involved by:

• Joining local and national school/parent organizations.
• Supporting school extra-curricular activities.
• Volunteering at the school; attending parent-teacher conferences.
• Communicating with your child’s teacher regularly,by writing notes, telephoning the school, email, etc.
• Keeping your child’s teacher informed about events in your child’s life which may affect his/her performance at school.
• Discussing with your child’s teacher and parent organizations other ideas for parent involvement.
